Must See Horror Films of the Past

Although October season has arrived, you will not celebrate Halloween correctly until you watch at least one horror movie. The following list contains the perfect, classic horror movies to bring you into the spooky season spirit.

Scream (1996)
A year after her mother’s death, high school student Sidney Prescott receives a flirtatious phone call from an unknown caller, during which they discuss her favorite horror movies. When Sidney refuses to answer more questions, she receives threats from the masked killer. 

Friday the 13th (1980)
In 1957, Pamela Sue Voorhees’s 11-year-old son, Jason, drowned while swimming at Crystal Lake. Voorhees blames the two counselors in charge of her son’s safety. She believed the supervisors were taking part in explicit activities instead of directing children who were swimming in the lake. Jason Voorhees goes out on a vengeance out of anger and slaughters the counselors which cause the camp to close. In 1979, the camp set to open up, on Friday the 13th. The counselors hired to work there were killed off one by one.  

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
The disfigured spirit kills off his victims in their dreams, which in turn kills them in reality. Nancy believes that her friends’ parents as well as her own parents may be the key to stop the horror mangler.

Ghostbusters (1984)
After a group of researchers loses their jobs in New York City, they become the “ghostbusters” to earn quick cash. Evil ruptures and the four men must overcome the evil in the city before time runs out.

The Exorcist (1973)
Reagan, a twelve-year-old girl, becomes possessed by an evil entity. In turn, her mother persuades two priests to spare her life and bring back her daughter. The two priests work until they physically can not do anything to remove the evil spirit.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
5 hippies go through Texas on the way to their granddad’s vandalized grave. However as their gas tank runs out, they take a detour to an abandoned farmhouse. They later found out the house belongs to Leatherface and his band of malicious insane people. Leatherface sought to kill the teenagers and they must escape from him and his psychotic gang.

Halloween (1978)
In 1963, Michael Myers brutally murdered his older sister and taken away by his primary care physician, Sam Loomis. On the day preceding Halloween, 15 years after Myers escapes and heads toward his old neighborhood. On Halloween night, he goes out on a rampage while Loomis and the nearby sheriff look around Myers’ neighborhood for him.

Hellraiser (1987)
Kirsty’s dad, Larry, and stepmother, Julia, move into Larry’s childhood home. Larry’s notorious sibling, Frank, utilized a powerful riddle box to gather a pack of other-dimensional devil people. However, Frank requires blood penances to escape the grip of Pinhead, one of the other-dimensional devils. This review goes more in-depth. 

Child’s Play (1988)
Andy Barclay sees an ad for the Good Guy doll on TV and askes his mom to purchase one for his birthday. At work, Andy’s mother and her companion find a vendor selling one cheap, and she buys it. But the doll contains the soul of a murderer who died the night prior. He had moved his soul to the doll through the use of voodoo. Once Andy’s mom brought the doll home a series of murders occurred. Andy realizes that ‘Chucky’ is responsible for the murders. Read this review.
