Hannah Glaze grinned with excitement as she held a new, red and black Bronco Brigade shirt before the first football game of her junior year. After slipping on her new shirt and arriving at the game, Glaze felt fully prepared to bring encouragement to the crowd and football team for Legacy’s first game against the L.D. Bell Raiders.
“I came into Bronco Brigade expecting a good time. My favorite part is just getting to go crazy and not care what people think,” Glaze said. “I tried out because the former members all looked like they were enjoying themselves, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Glaze also believes the Bronco Brigade can improve spirit and excitement at the games.
“We could have done better,” she said. “Our first game was very fun but we should have been more pumped up about it.”
Bronco Brigade sponsor and Chemistry teacher Jennifer Lowry has recognized and prepared for the football team’s support needs after becoming a 5A school. She also looks forward to the team facing new opponents.
“I love football, and I enjoy the sideline pass,” Mrs. Lowry said.
When not cheering the team, Brigade member Lacie Snider dances to the band’s music, doing cartwheels and other activities to bring out the support of the crowd.
“I love the energy of the group and how we can act silly and goofy,” Snider said. “We’re really good at getting the crowd excited and at supporting our football team.”
Senior, and captain of the Bronco Brigade, Sydney Galier also enjoys spending time with her peers.
“I think we have an exciting group of people this year,” Galier said. “I’m looking forward to the games and also having a front row seat.”
Although the first game was a loss, the Bronco Brigade kept their spirits up.
“I love getting to dance around with everybody,” Snider said. “We’re a team and though we were bummed that we lost our first game, I think the support from us and other students was a good representation of how involved the students of Legacy really can be.”
