Approximately 50 students auditioned for a part in the spring musical “Shrek-The Musical.” Junior Micah Espree auditioned for role “Donkey” and got the part.
“With Donkey, he’s blissfully ignorant to a lot of things, and I would like to say I’m the same. I don’t like seeing the negative side of things and I just enjoy being a very optimistic person,” Espree said.
Senior Zoe Fowler dances for her audition. She plays the role of a “Duloc Dancer” and also stars as “Peter Pan.”
“I have always wanted to be an actress, singer, and dancer, and I just think dancing is so cool because of how you can move your body and show art,” Fowler said.
Sophomore Kayla Parker takes part in the backstage crew. She sews costumes for the show.
“My grandmother was a seamstress. She taught me how to sew, and I learned on a Hello Kitty sewing machine,” Parker said. “Sewing for the show is kind of stressful because I feel like I’m under lots of pressure, but whenever I’m sewing by myself, it’s pretty fun.”
