Cheer

Why We Do It
“I cheer because it gives me an opportunity to be a leader, be involved in my school and I have a passion for it.” Caroline Crutchfield, 11

Time/Days/Where We Meet
The Varsity Cheer Team meets every day in the last class period of the day. The JV Cheer Team meets on A days with the Varsity Cheer team so the whole program can practice together. Cheer does not have a gym or designated space to practice. You can see them practicing in the cafeteria, the dance room, on the football field, and other various places around campus.

What Other Students Think We Do
“Everyone thinks we just support the football team and get them gifts.” Grace Corbin, 9

What Our Parents Think We Do
“They think we stand there, shake our pom-poms and look pretty. They think we also throw people in the air for fun.” Caroline Crutchfield, 11

What We Really Do
“Cheerleaders bring spirit and joy to sports, school, and others. Cheerleading is not only a way to get the crowd involved, but generally, it entertains our peers and helps them cheer on our school.” Claire Wisdom, 10
