It’s been a long while since I wrote about my love of all things mechanical but I’m back and ready to discuss the new iPhone. The story started in a bar in northern California where an Apple software engineer left his phone sitting on a bar stool. Another patron stumbled upon this iPhone and unbeknownst to him it was disguised as a 3GS. The man waited for the engineer to come back to get his phone, but he never showed. The patron took the phone home and decided to contact the software engineer in the morning but he awoke to a bricked phone. He also discovered that there was a strange case on the outside after removing it he found out this wasn’t the iPhone he thought it was. After trying to return the phone to Apple, who never responded he eventually handed it over to Gizmodo.
The most noticeable change in the new iPhone is its redesigned exterior. It has a more boxy casing which will create a much more distinguishable aesthetic from the previous versions of the iPhone. The added hardware features I am also looking forward to are a front facing camera mounted under the surface of the phone that could possible be used for video chatting. Currently it is unknown whether or not the camera will utilize iPhone OS 4.0. Even though Gizmodo could only view the “Connect to iTunes” icon they can tell that it has a higher resolution screen. The side control volume buttons have also been separated which creates a greater ability to identify which is which or re-purpose them for another use.
I’m excited about this new revision of the iPhone but then again I’m partial to Apple mobile devices. This summer I’ll be saving up to purchase the new upgrade because I’m not only excited about the hardware but the new version of the software as well. This device has an easily accessible interface that any person can use and if you have thought about trying out the iPhone then wait until this summer when Apple releases the new iPhone to the masses.
