“Captain America: The First Avenger” is a movie I’ve waited forever to see. I would check to see when production was starting every now and then and I would check the cast list. The Captain America movie will feature Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Tommy Lee Jones (Col. Chester Phillips) and Chris Evans (Captain America). Some of you may remember Chris Evans seeing as how he was The Human Torch from “The Fantastic Four”.
For some reason, director Joe Johnston thought, “Hey, you know who would play a good Captain America? The same guy who played The Human Torch.” Why would you want to have an actor who not only has played a different superhero, but also one from the same universe to be Captain America?
The Human Torch being Captain America is comparable to Christian Bale playing Aqua Man, or Tobey Maguire playing Dr. Strange. If you are a true marvel fan you’ll understand what I’m talking about. In the original Marvel comics, Captain America and The Human Torch not only fight each other but they also team up quite a few times. I’m amazed that Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel, has not done anything. He doesn’t have the authority to change the actor but he can at least tell the director to do something about it.
I was in love with the idea of this movie, but now I hate even the thought of this movie. This complication has ruined this movie for me. The casters had such a wide selection of people they could have picked from, for instance: Gerard Butler, Jason Statham, Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Mark Whalberg, Chris Pine or Eric Bana. Anyone besides Chris Evans would be a better choice. Now, I like Chris Evans and I’m not saying he is a bad actor, but I am trying to say that one person should not play multiple superheros. It’s wrong. Some people will probaly have no problem with it and that is fine, but this has completely changed the way I view this movie.

This is kinda cute, how we judge movies before actually seeing them. Thinking we have a complete view of it when in reality, we don’t. After 22 movies of MCU. I can say that Chris Evans was the best Captain America choice we ever had, the one that ended the Captain America arc in such a magnificent and compelling way. Thanks, Chris Evans.

The reason why Chris Evans was Captain America, is because Marvel doesn’t own the rights to the Fantastic Four, Sony does. So even if they were to make more Marvel mash-up movies, the Fantastic Four would never be in them. Not to mention the fact that there are plans to reboot the Fantastic Four, and it won’t have any of the same actors. I thought Chris Evans did a great job as Captain America, it’s possibly my favorite superhero movie.

ok, while i agree Chris Evans was not even close to my first pick. You have to realize that the fantastic four movies were pretty big flops and there has been talks of reboots for quite some time. Hes been kinda type-cast as the funny/ douche bag character (which fits johnny storm) but hopefully he can handle the serious and well mannered Cap. On a side note, if Jason Statham were to ever play any marvel character ever i would probably cancel every comic subscription i have and quit reading and buying anything marvel licensed at all. They might as well make Steven Seagal Wolverine lol. Chris Pine is about the only name you listed that I’d agree with, he was actually who i had been hoping would get the role. With all things considered i still think Chris Evans is a good actor and this is his chance to be the main iconic role in a superhero film, he better not eff it up. (maybe they’ll do a FF series where Dr. Doom aka the most powerful villain in the marvel universe isnt a total wimp. That would be sweet”

Gerard Butler, Jason Statham not good choices they would be better suited for different Marvel characters. Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus. I lol’ed at both of those choices.(I take it you are a huge fan of Boondock Saints) I agree with you that I dont like them using the Human Torch actor to play another Marvel character. I mean the last FF movie was 2007. That’s just to close to this movie. Eric Bana that is exactly what you are writing this big article about. Remember he is Banner in Hulk. By them going this route just means that the FF franchise is officially dead. At least until they decide to do a reboot.

The dumbest move in history. Dude you said it all. Obviously the people who make these movies are only seeing $$$. No true Marvel fan will see this in the theatre. Only the midless movie buffs who havent set foot in a comic shop.

Does this mean now that Captain America will be Johnny and Sue Storm’s grandfather? Interesting twist to the plot and the Marvel Universe itself.
