Children’s theater will perform a kids’ adaptation of The Wizard of Oz for the first grade class of Roberta Tipps Elementary School on Tuesday, May 19. The class incorporated the well-known songs of the movie into their rendition.
“We’ve never done a musical; our actors are doing a good job with the songs,” theatre teacher Melanie McIntyre said.
The theater class created the costumes and set for the 50-minute play, which they have been rehearsing for seven weeks.
“The set is really simple. You can’t have a lot of things everywhere with children’s theater, to keep their attention,” Mrs. McIntyre said.
