Environmental club hopes to start hold community events in which garbage and recycling items can be disposed of properly. Every Wednesday, the club meets in U-204 with the common goal of benefiting the community and the environment simultaneously.
“We’re starting to plan what activities to do to help bring attention to the environmental problems,” senior Vinh Nguyen said. “We are starting school-wide, but our goal is to help the entire community.”
The club also plans to get recycling bins for cups, bottles, batteries and the plastic foam trays in the cafeteria.
“I know we throw away a lot we did posters about different things that need to be recycled the right way but right now we are stating with batteries,” junior Kianah Gordan said.
Environmental club hopes to perform community service during the spring semester, possibly helping to create storm drains for the city.
“The school doesn’t provide the necessary things for recycling,” Nguyen said. “Our plan is to help the staff and students become more aware of what they throw away and how it affects the environment.”
