Beginning in April and ending in July, theaters around the nation will be displaying a wide variety of anticipated blockbuster films.
Furry Vengeance : Real estate developer, Don Sanders, starring Brendan Frasier, goes on a face off with nature and a handful of very angry animals when his new housing area expands too far into a nature reserve. Sanders must battle raccoons, bears, skunks and many more wild critters while building on a nature reserve. We all learned about messing with nature in the movie Over the Hedge. Don’t do it! The animals as well as Don’s son teach him all about effects of man’s intrusions on nature and the environmental consequences from their actions. This new PG family fun comedy on environmental protection will teach children as well as adults the importance of nature and make them laugh. Furry Vengeance makes its first appearance in theaters Apr. 30.
Iron Man 2 : The sequel to one of the best movies returns with Tony Stark gearing up to take on new, more powerful enemies. Stark refuses to share the secrets of his power suit with the militrary for fear that it will fall into the wrong hands. With love interest Pepper Potts and good friend Rhodney right there with him, Stark forges new alliances in order to take down his most powerful foes yet. Starring Robert Downy Jr. this explosive PG-13 sequel will have you hanging on the edge of your seat for dear life as the action packed scenes keep your eyes glued to the screen. Iron Man 2 opens May 7.
Robin Hood : As France and England enter war, Robin Hood enlists in the army only to leave after the death of King Richard. He makes his way to Nottingham only to find the town in complete chaos. A corrupt Sheriff has ravaged the town with strict rule and heavy taxes. Robin Hood assembles a gang to attack the Sheriff and the upper class people of Nottingham in order to award justice to the poor. He wishes to free Nottingham of its burden and marry the lovely Maid Marion. Starring Russel Crowe, this anticipated PG-13 release will have movie watchers far and wide purchasing tickets and anxiously waiting outside the doors like a kid outside a candy store. The fight to free Nottingham begins on May 14.
Toy Story 3 : When Andy heads off to college, the toys find themselves in a predicament when their future turns for the worse. The toys wind up on a room full of crazy, out of control toddlers just dying to get their grubby little hands on some new toys. The toys try their best to stay together in this chaos as their only hope of survival, sticking to the infamous quote “No toy gets left behind.” Starring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, the toys are finally back in this animated family classic and will have kids and parents lining up by the hundreds to see it. The toy box re-opens in 2D and 3D Jun. 18.
Grown Ups : With one of the most amazing casts put together, five friends and former teammates on a basketball team are brought back together after the death of their old coach. Spending Fourth of July weekend together and meeting each others wives and children, the old pals catch up on all the years they missed. They learn the valuable lesson that growing old doesn’t mean you have to grow up. Starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade, this exciting new comedy about adults learning what it’s like to grow up will make anybody laugh. The real growing up begins Jun. 25.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse : Bella Swan is once again in danger when Seattle is attacked by a line of mysterious murders and an evil vampire bent on revenge. Bella is forced to chose between her love for the vampire Edward or her friendship with the werewolf Jacob. Knowing that her decision could cause a war to be waged between the vampire and werewolf race, she is forced to make the most important decisions of her life as her graduation draws near. Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, the 3rd book of the Twilight Saga is brought to the big screen to please teenage girls across the world. The vampire drama returns Jun. 30.
The Last Airbender : When the four nations (fire, water, earth, and air) are tied together when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the other three nations. 100 years passes with no hope to the end of the war. A young boy named Aang discovers he is the famous Avatar with the power to control all four elements. He teams up with a pair of brother, sister waterbenders named Sokka and Katara to end the war with the Fire Nation once and for all. Starring Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone, this live action movie based on the Nickelodeon cartoon will have kids and teens riding into the theaters on their orbs of air. The bending begins on Jul. 2.
Predators : Elite mercenaries and cold blooded killers are brought to an unknown alien planet, not as the hunters, but as the prey. These natural born human predators become systematically hunted down, eliminated and exterminated by a much greater force then they ever dreamed of being; a new breed of alien Predators. Putting a new horror into the eyes of all, this new addition to the Predator series starring Adrien Broody, Laurence Fishburne, and Topher Grace will have fans dying to see it. The new and improved hunt for blood re-initiates on Jul. 7.
Salt : CIA officer Evelyn Salt swore an oath to honor, serve, and protect her country. Her loyalty is put to the ultimate test when a defector accuses Salt of being a Russian Spy. Salt goes on the run using all of her skills she has developed in the CIA over the years to help her evade capture by the very country she once swore her loyalty to. As the trek goes on to uncover Salt’s allegiance. Starring Angelina Jolie, this action packed thriller is sure to attract a big crowd on opening day, with people striving for the answer to, “Who is Salt?” The questions are answered Jul. 23.
