[see what the audience said opening night]
The lights dim and the spotlight shines on the auburn headed principal, introducing the audience to the “perfect” school of Enrico Fermi High, named after ‘the father of the atomic bomb’, set in the nuclear fifties. Four girls in Home Ec. train themselves on becoming the ideal housewife, while three guys in woodshop learn to make “gunracks for a new tomorrow.” The school doors fly open, and the new kid, Jonny, “without an ‘H’” Warner, enters with the three students and their perfected gunracks.
With the Theater Department putting on their first musical, other organizations including band and choir helped in production. The singing was phenomenal in every song, as was the dancing, with all the actors. As the intermission came along, I just sat in my seat wanting more. The plot kept me enthralled into the musical and left me wanting to see the end.
It was easy to tell the actors had all the lyrics, lines and dances well-memorized because it flowed flawlessly between all of them. The weeks of rehearsing really paid off for everyone in the cast and crew. The time and effort the crew put into the musical can really be shown when feeling the aura and feeling it delivers to the audience. The fog creeps up on you, the lights flash at you as Jonny opens the doors, and the songs hit a perfect pitch.
From the crowd’s reaction, and my own opinion, the musical was a major success. The cast, crew and directors all deserve praise for such a wonderful job well done on their first musical. A good choice at deciding on what the first musical should be. The audience loved the musical on opening night, and they will love it for the three other days it is being performed.

What a great experience we had with Zombie Prom! I want to thank everyone who came out to see the show and to all of the teachers and students who supported the cast, crew and directors. Our first Musical was definitely one for the record books!
