Review: The Scene Is Dead Tour

I’ve listened to their music. Watched all of their interviews, chatted with them once in a blue moon on Twitter and even seen them perform live a few times. (Yes, I fangirled. I fangirled hard.) But nothing could have prepared me for “The Scene Is Dead Tour.” This tour, designed by Blood On The Dance Floor, featured their newest addition to Dark Fantasy Records, (BOTDF’s official record label.) Haley Rose. Other artists include Jeffree Star, who is arguably the most controversial artist of the glam-pop genre. Followed by Davey Suicide, and New Years Day. (Soon replaced by Consider Me Dead.)

My experience with this show was phenomenal. From the moment the doors opened to the second I staggered out, soaked in blood and glitter. The lineup started with Consider Me Dead, who put on a great performance. Their energy got the entire room jumping and screaming. The vocals were amazing, and the atmosphere set the stage for the bigger acts that were to come. I remember shoving my way through an endless crowd of screaming fans.

I made my way to the front of the stage just as Jeffree Star started to sing his hit song “Ice Cream.” It was a remixed version designed just for the tour.  Everyone was pushing me forward into the speakers, and Jeffree was less than three feet away from me. I was soaked in crowd-sweat, but I didn’t care. I was having way too much fun. Jeffree reached down and grabbed my hand and threw his bottle of water to me (which I still have, mind you), so I wouldn’t DIE of heat stroke.

After his performance, there was a brief intermission as we waited for BOTDF to come on stage. I started to talk to a few of the people around me, and we exchanged numbers and bracelets. (Why not, right?) Suddenly the lights went off and the crowd started to scream, Dahvie and Jayy came on stage and I went absolutely nuts, I was singing along to all the songs, and Jayy actually put the microphone to my mouth,so I could sing a bit of their song “PLUR.”

They sprayed fake blood, glitter, and foam into the crowd. I was drenched in the mixture. The light show made me feel like I was in a funhouse, the mass of swaying bodies actually lifted me off my feet a few times, and I had to fight for my spot up front.  It was well worth the wait because just as soon as the show ended, they came out into the crowd to do some meet and greets. I was able to talk to them for a good minute and get some pictures with them.

Throughout the entire show I witnessed nothing but love and pure joy from everyone in the club. This truly was the best tour I have ever been too, and I wait in anticipation for the next show.
