Review- Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Review-+Percy+Jackson%3A+Sea+of+Monsters+

Here we go again. Percy Jackson and his friends Grover, the satyr, and Annabeth, daughter of Athena, are back on a new adventure to save Camp Half-Blood’s magical barrier with the Golden Fleece. Percy and the gang must go through the returning Luke and his evil minions, sea monsters, and even a cyclops. Movie goers who liked the first flick will enjoy the second because effects and the story are better than the first – not that the first movie was bad – it just didn’t live up to my expectations.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters was released Friday, August 7. The movie’s based off of Rick Riordan’s second book in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. Sea of Monsters, being rated PG and about 109 minutes long, had earned a total of $14,401,054 on opening weekend. The movie has added characters from the book series such as Clarisse, the very competitive daughter of Ares, the God of War, and Percy’s new half brother Tyson, a friendly cyclops.

Walking into the theater, this wasn’t my first choice. I was expecting this to be an alright movie, expecting this movie to be just be as disappointing the Lighting Thief was to me, but I was actually shocked. This turned out to be a really fun, enjoyable movie. This movie had attracted a big variety of audience members. It’s targeted toward teenagers who read the book while they were younger, like Harry Potter and Twilight did, but it also manages to draw in loud, obnoxious parents that bring along their crying, whining-about-the-candy-they-didn’t-get children. What a great mix. The movie had plenty of funny quotes and moments and there is always someone who literally rolled on the floor laughing at those moments. It was just Super duper.

Sea of Monsters occurs at a very fast pace, trying to get in as much detail as possible without puzzling the audience. This movie had my attention the whole time. There wasn’t a single moment when I didn’t have my eyes glued to the screen. This movie was so good it was like looking in the fridge and not finding your candy bar at first sight, but once you shuffle around you find it and you’re the happiest person in the whole world.

When you reached a low point of the movie and thought about just giving up on it, Sea of Monsters came back strong in a instance. This movie did end with a cliffhanger leading into the next movie, which happens to be the worst thing in the whole universe. Although, the directors did do an amazing job filming this movie and did a much better job than the Lightning Thief. I give this movie an 8/10 and i can’t for this to be an addition to my personal movie collection once it hits the shelf.
