Liam Neeson stars in Non-Stop directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Non-Stop is a thriller filled with suspense and takes place 40,000 feet in the air. It goes to show that the person you were least expecting can be the real monster.
What was supposed to be another normal transatlantic flight for U.S. Air Marshal, Bill Marks (played by Liam Neeson), quickly turns into a nightmare when he receives a cryptic text message demanding $150 million wired into an off-shore account. Until Marks seccures the money into the account, a passenger would be killed every 20 minutes.
Marks begins off as a sketchy character. We first see him sitting in his vehicle smoking a cigarette and pouring alcohol in his coffee cup before entering the airport. He stands in the corner of the boarding area of the airport searching the crowd and is texting an unknown person asking him suspicious questions. Marks is also seen frantically whispering into his cell phone with a panicked expression on his face. It is later shown that he has nothing but the passenger’s safety on his mind.
Marks has to battle his own inner demons while trying to figure out a way to stop the killer without having to send him the money. The killer is aware of Mark’s struggles and uses that against him while also pinning the evil plan on him. Mark is forced to work under the conditions of having the world think he is a terrorist with the help of one flight attendant, Nancy (Michelle Dockery), and passenger Jen Summers (Julianne Moore).
I enjoyed watching Bill Marks struggle to fight his own demons while trying to stop a mad man. Liam Neeson puts his all into the character and I couldn’t picture anyone else playing the part. Director Jaume Collet-Serra manages not to follow the path of every other director in hollywood that deem it necessary to included unneeded love scenes or cheesy fights. I would recommend this movie for those who love mysteries and action.
