Growing up is inevitable, and this truth can be a more difficult concept for one group in particular: child stars. We as viewers have had the opportunity to watch some of our favorite child stars grow up right in front of our eyes. We’ve seen it all- the good, the bad and definitely the ugly.
Miley Cyrus – The young actress/singer captured our hearts with classics such as “The Climb” and “Party in The USA.” She made us laugh and sometimes even cry with her portrayal of Miley Stewart, an average girl who lived a double life as a pop star, in the Disney Channel classic, Hannah Montana. Now, Miley thinks that she can shed her squeaky clean-ish teen pop image by twerking on married men and licking various household objects.
Dylan and Cole Sprouse – Otherwise known as Zack and Cody Martin, these were the twins that we watched grow up on not one but two successful Disney shows. After being the spokespeople for Dannon yogurt, the twins went AWOL before making an iconic return via twitter via nude photos of Dylan Sprouse.
Amanda Bynes – In the last few years, we had the pleasure of witnessing the very bizarre comeback of Amanda Bynes from her retirement via Twitter. Bynes dominated Twitter with seriously uncomfortable tweets expressing her feelings toward different celebrities (most notably Drake) and awkward selfies to show off her awful nose job. It came as a shock to anyone who remembers her as the quirky, good girl from the Amanda Show and She’s The Man.
Hilary Duff – She was the girl next door of the early 2000’s that Demi Lovato desperately tries to convince us she is, and one of the few stars that didn’t go completely insane. After playing the title character in arguably one of the best shows on Disney Channel ever, Lizzie McGuire, Duff retired to a quiet, suburban life with a husband and son.
Shia Labeouf – Shia Labeouf, who portrayed our favorite Louis Stevens in Even Stevens, a classic Disney show from the early 2000’s, pleasantly surprised us all when he became a blockbuster movie star, playing the human lead in the Transformers franchise. Unfortunately, that was short-lived as a plagiarism scandal has forced to relocate Labeouf to the streets of Los Angeles, where he walks in silence with a paper bag over his head with #IMSORRY written across it.
