Fans gather into their seats as they prepare to watch the sci-fi adventure of a lifetime. I sit eagerly waiting for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” to appear on the big screen in front of me while scarfing down some popcorn in anticipation. Mockingjay – Part 1, the first half of the third movie in the series title Hunger Games, was released worldwide on Friday, November 21st, 2014.
Following up the last movie, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” when main character Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) enters the Hunger Games for the second time and toward the end of the games gets an unexpected turn of events when she explodes the force field of the arena and gets lifted from a hovercraft. While her love, Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson) gets held captive by the capitol.
The movie starts off with Katniss sitting on a hospital room floor rocking back and forth and whispering to herself. As the movie progresses, we see Katniss become the new face of the rebellion. Also, her relationship with Gale Hawthorne (played by Liam Hemsworth) seems like an up and down rollercoaster.
The movie shows how District 13 became they way it is now and how they have survived since the incident with the capitol occurred. It also further explains what has happened in District 12 and why the people of District 12 had to move in with the people in District 13. The people of District 13 and head of the district president Coin has welcomed them into their homes.
With the help of Betee, the camera team, director and many more people, Katniss performs promos for the whole of Panem to see that she stands up and fights for what she believes in. She wants to send that message across to everyone around each district. She wants the districts to know that she joined their side and she will fight against President Snow.
Katniss’s ultimate goals are to bring back Peeta and win the war against President Snow. She must trust the people around her to help her achieve these two goals because they are very vital and important to her.
The movie overall was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. It has a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. This movie will make you laugh, jump, scream and maybe even tear up a little like I did. The only words I can wish upon you is that “May the odds be ever in your favor.’

I agree! I really liked this movie. The characters were portrayed so well & were so realistic. The movie also followed book similarly as opposed to any other movie with a series. It was a great movie.
