Eighth Grade– Everybody remembers 8th grade. Back when image seemed so important, when puberty stood at its worse and cringeness at its finest. Eighth Grade takes us on a journey of the average 21st century teenager. It captures the story of Kayla, a 14 year old girl who has trouble being outgoing, so she makes videos on Youtube to help her break out of her shell. The film gives us a realistic look at a technology induced society that takes place in the midst of suburbia.
The First Purge– For y’all weird thriller fanatics, someone made a movie for you. Unlike the first two movies, this film goes back to the origin of the Purge, an annual tradition used to rid their society of crime. In this new cinematic picture, you’ll meet new characters and a chilling storyline.
Hot Summer Nights– Hollywood’s not-so new breakout star, Timothee Chalamet, took the world by storm with his appearance in Lady Bird, a coming of age movie that takes place in 2002. He also played a big role in Call Me By Your Name, an intimate film directed by Luca Guadagnino. In Hot Summer Nights, Timothee plays Daniel, the new kid who finds company under the wing of a drug dealer. He gets involved in the drug scene, falls in love with money, summer flings and life. Even when I watched the trailer, I could taste every emotion they felt.
Incredibles 2– It’s finally time. Time for a shift in pop culture, government and the human endeavor. THE RELEASE OF INCREDIBLES 2. Back in 2004, Pixar left us shook with a cliffhanger in The Incredibles. Two years swept by and we turned patient. Then four went by and then at seven years we got annoyed. 2018, you’re going to shine.
