Starting from the larger company Lucasfilms, in 1986, Pixar became their own animation company, producing 28 films over the course of 38 years, nominated for over 1000 awards and winning 485 of them . With all credibility taken care of, here’s the top five best Pixar films to watch.
The Good Dinosaur – 2015
Although animated, The Good Dinosaur is a heart-wrenching, tear-bringing film. The story follows a dinosaur, Arlo, who meets a stray boy, Spot, on his journey back to his parents. The two develop a special bond through their hardships but end their journey on a sad note for the audience.
Monsters, Inc. – 2001
One of Pixar’s most classic films is Monsters, Inc. The two main characters, Sully and Mike, work at a scare plant where they scare little kids for energy. The pairing is excelling at their job, but their 9-5 quickly turns into a biochemical, fatal hazard because of their new best friend, Boo. The movie has a great plot line with best friends, new friends and friends who weren’t friends before.
Finding Nemo – 2003
One of Pixar’s earlier films, Finding Nemo still airs and remains watched regularly today. Marlin is on a mission to find his captured son, Nemo, when he meets Dory who helps him on his expedition. The film comes to an end with a beautiful last scene and a heart warming tone, after their long and windy journey.
Toy Story – 1995
The second best movie is Pixar’s most famous, Toy Story. Famous for a reason, winning many awards, Toy Story is a unique, creative perspective of what goes on with toys when humans aren’t there. The camera follows Andy’s toys after he loses them at Pizza Planet, his neighbor tries to blow them up and almost gets run over by an 18-wheeler, in the end all of the toys move with Andy to his new house and new chapter of his life.
Cars – 2006
The best Pixar movie of all time is Cars. The top three should be the cars trilogy but it’s better to have some diversity. Some say the movie is boring, basic or predictable, but who cares? Cars follows the next hottest racing car, Lightning McQueen, as he travels a long journey, physically and morally, to becoming a better car. The side characters add great depth to the movie, introducing his new best friend and a love interest. Although a foreseeable plot, the movie encapsulates great friendships and the value of selflessness all through cars, what could be a better movie than that?
