Destiny Baise woke up in the morning ready to tell the world who she was without saying a word. Clothing is an outlet of expression that she uses to portray her personality everyday.

“Fashion is your personality. How you dress is how you act,” Baise said. “I dress weird, and I like to put random stuff together because I’m a weird and random person.”

According to Baise, fashion reflects an individual’s personality, so people shouldn’t try to model it after another person’s sense of style. Everyone has a unique twist to their wardrobe, because no two people are the same.

“I try to be unique, because I see people wearing stuff that a lot of people are wearing,” Baise said. “I just put clothes together that I think are cute. If it doesn’t go together, oh well, I don’t care what people think.”

Sierra Sutton thinks fashion often determines who a person’s friends are, because it correlates with behavior.

“There are always cliques who wear certain styles. The music they like and the things they do associate with the products and brands they buy,” Sutton said.

The inspiration for various outfits comes from many different sources. Sutton’s fashion icon  is Grace Kelly, an Oscar winning actress from the 1950’s.

“I love vintage clothing, and I like to mix black with patterns,” Sutton said.

Nicole Wegienka finds her muse for fashion right at home. Her mother influences her mature chic look.

“I like whatever I think is comfy and cute,” Wegienka said. “Jeans and a t-shirt that you can mix and match with some comfy shoes and a scarf make the best outfit.”

Sometimes friends have the same inspiration, and dress similar to one another. Baise has a friend whose style paralleled her own. Their hair and clothing resembles each other.

“My friend named Monica dresses like me. We like skinny jeans because they’re comfortable. I like to wear baggy shirts with my zebra print skinny jeans,” Baise said.

Wegienka believes fashion does not only consist of the clothes you wear. It  is expressed by their attitude.

“Fashion is how you walk, how you present yourself. It’s not necessarily how you dress,” Wegienka said. “I think we worry too much about what people are wearing, when that’s not what really matters.”

Too many people in the world are obsessed with fashion!
It is good to know that there are people out there that actually dress the way they do because it is what they like.
I am one of those people.
