Stress Relief Techniques

Sophomore Sarah Mussleman throws her books on the ground with frustration. Unable to continue with her homework, she puts in her headphones and turns on some of her favorite music. Slowly but surely her body relaxes as she becomes less and less stressed.

Music-
“I usually get really upset and freak out. So I calm down with music usually some Ke$ha or some Tay Swift. They both know how to calm me down. If that doesn’t work then I will put on some weird indie music,” sophomore Sarah Mussleman.

“I listen to really loud music and speed down the roads. College just really stresses me out. Having to move and worry about everything just pushes me over the edge, so I just have to let my stress out,” senior Raegan Lee.

“I go out in my truck and blast my music. I have this setting  on my car where the faster I go the louder my music goes. I like to listen to the Sick Puppies, Paramore, All Time Low, or pretty much any kind of rock music. Life in general stresses me out, from family to soccer,” junior Emily Hall.

Food-
“I love eating, I just love food, so it helps me deal with stress. Grades usually stress me out or my parents. So when I am stressed out I usually head for the pantry and eat whatever thereis. The only bad thing is that my parents get mad and tell me that I should stop eating junk,” freshman Isaiah Hutson.

“When I am stressed out, I eat chocolate. It’s good and makes me happy. Now it’s not like I am a fatty and eat all the time. I also sing to clear my mind as well. My causes of stress are school and family drama,” junior Alexandra Gronostay.

“I eat whatever is in the fridge. Olive Garden salads are what I usually crave when I am stressed out. My mom is always stressing me about college, so I eat to make me feel better,” sophomore Stephanie Gutierrez.

Friends-
“I usually take a break and talk to my friends or listen to music. My friends gives me a comforting feeling and help me calm down and de-stress,” sophomore Jennifer Brown.

“I talk to my friends because my friends know what to say to keep me going. They tell me encouraging things and tell me that everything is going to work out. School is my main cause of stress. There is just so much to keep up with,” sophomore Elizabeth Shine.

“When I am stressed out I like to yell and get it all of my chest. I will either yell at my “invisible friend” or call up one of my friends and complain to them. My mom really stresses me out everyday. If yelling does not help then I will try to sleep it off,” junior Kelsey Miller.

Other-
“I mountain bike or run when I am stressed out. I can be by myself and running allows me to do the same. I get the chance to clear my mind,” junior Ben Ramsey.

“I knit when I get stressed out or when anything goes wrong such as homework and school. I have done this since my mom taught me about two years ago.I knit so many scarves it is crazy. Every single one of my friends has one. Knitting just lets my mind wander for a little while,” senior Miroslava Medrano.

“Golf is my main cause of stress. I like to scream in my pillow because it just lets everything go. I scream all the time and, I have done this since I was little. My parents always get annoyed and tell me to calm down and be quiet,” sophomore Amber Campbell.

I am a pretty crazy person. I talk way too much and annoy everyone, but I guess my friends don’t mind! I laugh at pretty much anything anyone says or does. I am the person that laughs when I get in trouble (my parents are not really a fan of that). I always have a piece of gum handy, I am seriously addicted. Dancing has taken up every free second of my life since I was three, and I would not have it any other way. [email protected]
