Trucks at Legacy

Here at Legacy, it seems as if trucks in our school’s parking lot get larger and nicer every year. The big tires, loud exhaust and stunning wheels catch the attention of students all around campus, including senior Emily Rohr’s truck.

“I’ve grown up with trucks throughout my entire life,” Rohr said. “And I’ve always had a passion for pickups since I was little.ERT

Rohr got her current truck, a 2007 Chevy Silverado, around September 2015, and customized it to her liking. She had her truck lifted, added new tires and wheels and placed stickers on her truck. Previously, Rohr had a black and pink colored Dodge pickup until she went mudding and broke an axle, leading her to her new pickup.

“I really like to go mudding,” Rohr said. “But ever since I broke the axle, I haven’t gone mudding in my new truck yet.”

Junior Parker Wiley also drives a truck that is well known around the school. He still drives his first truck, a 2007 GMC 1500 that is painted in a unique tan-textured color.

PW1Wiley purchased his current truck from a family-friend who had only used the truck on his ranch, and added some customizations to it himself.“A family-friend of ours kept the truck in a garage most of the time,” Wiley said. “He brought it back to work on it which is how the paint job got done on it.”While some of the customizations came with the truck from the previous owner such as the paint job and wheels, Wiley added a Rhino Liner to his pickup bed, upgraded the engine and added a winch to the front of his truck.

“I’ve had a passion for trucks my whole life,” Wiley said. “I like how it stands out – people can see me coming from a mile away.”

Senior Landon Dennis is yet another student at Legacy that has a truck. He has had his Ford F-150 5.4 Liter since around 2013. Dennis first purchased the truck with all stock parts but knew he wanted to fix it up. Dennis’ neighbor, who was a mechanic at Ace Automotive, helped Dennis out with customizing his truck.

“My neighbor was a mechanic at Ace Automotive,” Dennis said. “He moved, but since I still knew him well I got to work on my truck with him.”

With the help of his neighbor, Dennis got new wheels, a lightbar in his front grille and an upgraded engine. In the future he plans to lift his truck and get even newer wheels and tires. Dennis also LD1added stickers to his truck.

“My favorite feature on my truck is the #IfSheBad sticker,” Dennis said.

Ever since Dennis started working on trucks he knew he would want one for himself one day. With hardwork and dedication he was able to modify his truck and drive around in style.

“If I had to describe my truck in one word it would be black,” Dennis said. “I really like that it is blacked out.”

And last but certainly not least, senior Garrett Brantley has a 2014 Ford F-350 Platinum Edition. Brantley got his truck, nicknamed “Addy the Platty”, in the early months of 2015.

“My dad sold my old truck and purchased a new one for himself,” Brantley said. “And I was able to take over the work truck.”

GBPNGBrantley remembers the first day he brought his truck to school, he was thinking he would be the only one with an F-350 platinum edition. But when he pulled up to his parking spot and looked up he saw a truck similar to his.

Brantley grew up getting in and out of big and tall trucks leading him to want one for himself. He describes his truck in one word, monstrous. His truck has four wheel drive, upgraded fog lights, a lift kit, tinted windows, upgraded headlights, heated and cooled seats and a subwoofer system. The most recent upgrade to his truck was a new set of wheels.

“The four wheel drive is my favorite part of the truck, but the heated and cooled seats are also cool,” Brantley said. “What gets me started in the morning is hearing the truck start, but it being big is also pretty nice too.”
