Football wide receiver coach and virtual business teacher Kendall Catalon coaches on the same field he used to play on from 2014-2018. Coach Catalon believes his time at Legacy was a valuable learning experience.

“I had a great group of friends known as brothers that helped my experience in high school be so memorable,” Coach Catalon said.

After graduating from Legacy, Coach Catalon went to the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Communications.

“It was definitely something you can’t take for granted and something I take great pride in,” Coach Catalon said. “After spending some years playing professional football and traveling, it was really rewarding coming back to a school that has poured so much into mine and my family’s life.”

Coach Catalon’s goal is to continue helping student athletes on the field and students in the classroom by relating to them based on his past experiences.

“I think MISD does really well at giving students so many resources to be successful,” Coach Catalon said,” and my advice for students now is to use the resources you are given and not take the four years of high school for granted.”

Head drill team director and dance teacher Alexandria Thomas teaches choreography in the same room she used to dance in from 2009-2013. Ms. Thomas believes her time at Legacy was exciting since the school opened only two years prior.

I was the first class that was here freshmen through senior year,” Ms. Thomas said. “My time was great, I feel like there was a lot of school spirit and a lot of excitement around a new school being open.”

After graduating from Legacy, Ms. Thomas went to dance competitively for two years at McLennan Community College. She then got her Kinesiology degree at Tarleton State University.

“I came back as the assistant drill team director in 2018 under Brooke Parlin,” Ms. Thomas said. “Ms. Parlin was my drill team director when I was here as well and she just inspired me to want to do this after I graduated college. There was an opening as the assistant that year, and she gave me a chance which I will always be eternally thankful for.”

Ms. Thomas was asked to be the head drill team director at Mansfield High School in 2021, however, came back to Legacy this year as the head drill team director. She believes one thing that has never changed is her love for this school.

“I think the core values of Legacy have always been the same,” Thomas said. “That is why I enjoy being here so much because you’re supported in a lot of different avenues by teachers and by admin across the board.”
