Senior Jake Edwards dreams to continue the tradition of Pink Fest next year after he graduates.
“It was one of the most powerful experiences of my life,” Edwards said. “I want to come back next year and be a sponsor.”
Edward’s personal incentive to support Pink Fest occurred when his mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, tumor of the plasma cells in bane marrow, in August 2007.
“I wanted to do something big and bold and to support my mother,” Edwards said, “and no one else will have to feel the pain my family did.”
With a hopeful outlook, Edwards expects a better turnout for Pink Fest in the years to come.
“It’s only going to get bigger and better because this year we raised awareness for [breast cancer] so next year kids will be more enthused to do it.”
Along with Edwards, Pink Fest sponsor Dena Shimming shares the same feelings about next year’s turn out.
“I’m very excited to see the amazing things our students can accomplish the third year of Pink Fest,” Shimming said.
