The Mansfield School District has recently been switching the network infrastructure of all computers on school campuses. In April of ’09, an outside technology group reported the technology was outdated and needed to be replaced. Dr. Brubaker, Assistant Superintendent of Technology & Information Services, is in the process to give the school campuses in the district the technology and reliability they’re expecting.
“We are updating everything so we can offer the teachers the reliability they deserve,” Brubaker said.
Some computers in the schools are more than five years old, and are in dire need of replacement, according to Brubaker. Because of the servers, some campuses have received Internet outages that can last the whole day. Another subject Dr. Brubaker is trying to accomplish is to give the teachers and students more storage capabilities and more storage room.
“The network infrastructure needs a major update so the teachers and students can all have what they need in a computer,” Brubaker said.
Brubaker expects the network plan to be completed by the summer of 2011.
