The cans collected by Friday afternoon will be counted and donated to the Living Word Outreach. An over sized paper mache can will be given to the winning school to display somewhere in the school.
“I hope we can do this event every year so we can pass the trophy around to the other schools,” Key Club sponsor, Mrs. Burkett said.
According to Mrs. Burkett, Timberview really wants to win this and all the students in their Key Club is promoting this event.
“Legacy, being the newest and biggest school, the other schools are out there to get us,” Mrs. Burkett said.
Many teachers made a competition between their class periods on which period brings the most cans and receive extra credit.
“I’m excited that we are getting together with Timberview,” Mrs. Burkett said. “The past few food drives we have done hasn’t been successful, since we have a competition with a whole school hopefully it’ll be a better outcome.”
