The Evening of Short Plays, the last winter production for this year plays from Thurs., Dec. 8-10 at 7 p.m. and Sun. Dec 11 at 2 p.m. in the Preforming Art Center.
“The show is going well. We are doing a lot better as it progresses,” Madison Fountain, 10, said. “People are starting to realize the gravity of our situation and that we have to pull it together and we are discovering new parts of our character which is exciting.”
The Evening of Short Plays consists of 10 short performances all in one sitting. “League of Semi-Superhero’s”, “English Made Simple”, “Mere Mortals”, “Medea”, “Sure Thing”, “Words, Words, Words”, “Variations on the Death of Trotsky,” “DMV Tyrant”, “Degas C’est Moi” and “Guerrilla Gorilla”. Most of the short plays are comedies.
“[The play] is so well put together that it won’t even seem like two hours,” Faby Sanchez, 10, said.
The play consists of 29 cast members which is the biggest cast the theater department has ever had.
“[Getting] a large group of people on stage, we have never done before,” Director Jeremy Ferman said.
Playing an Off Track Bedding worker in Degas C’est Moi and Alana in Guerrilla Gorilla, Sanchez sometimes struggles putting herself into a character shoes.
“[One of my characters] is so different from my personality. I’m the cautious person that won’t break rules and here goes my character breaking laws,” Sanchez said.
Freshman Christian Boulter, who plays Mr. Trotsky in “Variations on the Death of Trotsky”, will be appearing in his first play since he’s been at Legacy.
“I’m really excited because I just really love theater and I had a blast last year,” Boulter said. “My character is hilarious and I get to have a giant ax sticking out of my head who wouldn’t love that.”
