Auditions for UIL District were held at Lake Ridge HS on Nov. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.. The competition at UIL District contained more students than previous years with close to 450 entrants. These students competed with each other for a position in the district band, formed from a selected number of the top-placing students in each instrument’s section. A total of 35 students made the band, setting a new record for the school.
“It’s good that they’ve been working so hard and get to see the fruits of their labor,” Band Teacher Mr. Wilson said. “[I am] excited because they have a good chance of doing well at region; they just can’t let up now.”
The following students made first chair in their sections:
Audrey Snow, 10 – Clarinet
Alec Girouard, 12 – Bass Trombone
Austin Pursley, 11 – Bari Sax
Jordan Hall, 10 – Tenor Sax
