Jazz Band will perform for their annual Jazz Dinner Bash Feb. 23 at the Center of Performing Arts. Senior Thomas Kee and his fellow band members practice every day in class to ensure a quality performance.
“We just want as many people to get up there as they can and to be dancing and just have a good time,” Kee said. “We’re going to give it our all and hopefully everyone likes it.”
Participants interested in eating dinner must pre-order their tickets for $20. Students must purchase tickets by Thursday, Feb. 14, after school at the band hall. The meal consists of chicken marsala, served with salad, two sides and tea. Reserved seats become available when ordering eight or more tickets. To enter for the dance and silent auction only, attendants must pay $10 at the door.
The dance spans from 7 – 9 p.m., with the Jazz Band playing many classic, prominent tunes as well as some jazz standards in their combo. The Jobe Jazz Band will also perform a few pieces in addition to Legacy’s ensemble.
“Its going to be big, and we’re going to make sure to come big, and play big,” Kee said.
Attendants may participate in a silent auction from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Various items donated from several different businesses and individuals will become available for participants to bid on. Band Director Glenn Fugett anticipates $6,000 to $9,000 in profit from the event.
“It’s going to be the best we’ve had because of the venue [Center of Performing Arts],” Mr. Fugett said.
Mr. Fugett expects a great performance from the Jazz Band, and views it as an entertaining way to raise funds for the band.
“The event will be the most professionally produced Jazz Bash we’ve ever done,” Mr. Fugett said. “The venue, the stage, lighting and sound will be phenomenal.”
