Key Club members teamed with Mansfield Kiwanis to help collect change for Feed the Kids for Summer. The club has placed boxes for students and faculty to donate in teachers rooms and offices around the school. They will collect money until Thursday March 28.
“Any time we can help those in need is a major accomplishment,” Key Club sponsor Shelly Burkett said. “We hope that we can help with the expenses to provide meals for kids in need.”
Common Ground sponsors the Feed the Kids for Summer program that puts together meals for 9,000 children in Mansfield ISD who may not get warm meals in the summer.
“I have seen first hand what an impact it has made in our community and the grateful families that they go to,” Key Club President Cynthia Garza said.
Key Club has participated in this service project by donating time and money since the school has opened. They have set the goal of $500.
“We are aiming high but not that high,” Garza said. “We want a large sum, it’s for a good cause after all and it stays local.”
