Legacy Theater students will present “As You Like It,” a play written by William Shakespeare in the late 1500s, for the fall show, marking their first performance at The Center. It will show from Oct. 17 to 19, starting at 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from $5 for students to $7 for adults.
“I am thrilled about performing at The Center for Performing Arts because it’s giving the actors experience on a big stage,” Theater Director Jeremy Ferman said. “I am nervous as well about performing at The Center for Performing Arts because there could be problems transitioning to that stage.”
Senior Amber Dever, looks ahead to her first lead role with eagerness.
“Getting the part of Rosalind is daunting,” Dever said, “I’m glad I got the part because I really relate to the witty and romantic part of Rosalind.”
The play centers around a girl named Rosalind and her cousin, Celia, who runs away from the kingdom and into the Forest of Arden. Rosalind disguises herself as a male and meets Orlando, the male protagonist, and convinces Orlando to win Rosalind’s heart.
Junior Christian Boulter plays Orlando, the youngest son of Sir Rowland De Boys, and prepares for the lead role.
“I am exuberant about ‘As You Like It’,” Boulter said. “This is my first lead and I’m ready to take on the task of performing a Shakespearean play and putting my own twist to it.”
