Select members of Legacy’s band performed at AT&T corporate headquarters in Dallas September 11. The performance served as part of a kick off pep rally to AT&T’s 2014 Employee Giving Campaign. Senior Elizabeth Shaner, who plays trumpet, enjoyed the experience.
“It was more fun than I expected,” Shaner said. “People really loved us.”
The head of AT&T’s communication department, a band parent, arranged the gig. Livestreamed across the country to other AT&T headquarters, the band played pep tunes at the beginning and end of the event. Band director Glenn Fugett believes the band had a successful performance.
“It apparently was a really big hit with the whole nationwide AT&T company,” Fugett said. “They were literally texting the people in Dallas telling them how cool it was.”
Four of the Mavs ManiAACS, the Dallas Mavericks’ dance crew, made an appearance, dancing in front of the band to a rewritten version of “Tootsee Roll” by 69 Boyz.
“[Dancing with the Mavs ManiAACS] brought us out of our shells,” Shaner said. “All our us were like, ‘I don’t want to do this because it’s live’, but then when they came out and started doing it we were like, ‘Okay, sure, we can do it because they’re doing it.’”
