On December 7, 2014, the Mansfield Center for Performing Arts will be hosting the Dallas Symphony for the third time in a concert called “A Big Brassy Christmas.”
The performance starts at 7 p.m. and individual tickets can be purchased for $25 and $20 for groups of six or more. Band members who wish to attend can pay a special price of $15. Band students should ask their Band Director for ticket information. Tickets can be purchased online here.
“The money raised from this event benefit the Education Foundation and will be used to fund special projects and programs that our district teachers request through the foundation,” Linda Bacisk, Director of the MISD Education Foundation said.
The audience can expect to experience all the beautiful sounds of the season as the Brass and Percussion sections of the Dallas Symphony perform Christmas classics.Three students from each high school are selected to perform that evening with the Symphony. The three students from Legacy are senior trumpeter Brock Mudie, tuba-playing-junior Greg Tillotson, and CC Waggoner playing French horn.
“It’s quite the privilege,” Mudie said. “We have been given the opportunity to play with some of the best and I think it will be loads of fun to be with these amazing musicians for a day.”
Ensembles from other MISD high schools will be performing in the foyer area of the Center prior to the event and during intermission. A silent auction will also be going on during the event featuring footballs signed by Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, a suite for the 2015 Texas Rangers baseball season and several other items.
