Student Council recently received a gift from Starbucks – a specialty coffee machine.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service released a statement announcing that that in the 2014-15 school year, all foods sold at school during the school day will need to meet nutrition standards. These new nutrition requirements prohibited Student Council from running their daily “Coffee Corral”, where they sold Coffee and Donuts. After hearing about this, Starbucks, a popular coffee shop, decided to alter their recipes so that schools across the nation could still sell coffee. But fret not, the coffee still tastes wonderful.
Jason Irvin, a junior, was surprised and rejoiced that Student Council was selling Starbucks drinks.
“The price is a bit steep for the size of the cup,” Irvin said. “[but] the hot chocolate was extremely good.”
The coffee machine is able to create multiple drinks including: Caffe Latte, Hot Chocolate, French Vanilla Cappuccino, Hazelnut, Cookies & Cream and Cafe Mocha. Specialty drinks may be purchased for $2 and regular coffee can be purchased for $1. Students and teachers can purchase these drinks before school starting at 6:45, and during all lunches.
Baron Kane, a Student Council officer, likes selling and delivering drinks from the Starbucks machine.
“I love seeing the students and teachers enjoy the drinks,” Kane said. “I think it’s a great way to raise money and a great way to get great drinks to the student body.”
Kane also offers free delivery to teachers when they are in their classroom.
“The teachers love the delivery system,” Kane said. “They feel it’s nice to get their coffee delivered to their room within minutes if they’re busy”.

This is a nice story. It’s really cool that we can get Starbucks at school now. I think people would still prefer getting Starbucks at an actual Starbucks location and sneak it in instead.

This is simply amazing to have a Starbucks coffee machine here at school. To be honest, I don’t really like the taste of coffee, but I have a brother who will be attending Legacy next year (2015-2016) who would love to buy Starbucks coffee everyday. Thank you student council for getting this Starbucks coffee maker, you simply just raised my brothers excitment to come here to Legacy High School. I will be looking forward to the further things you get and earn in the future. Keep up the good work! And thank you Jacob Friedburg for writing this, I never would of known this if it wasn’t for this interview/story. You did a good job writing/typing this too! Be sure to write more in the future, also continue to keep up the good work!

Love this story! It’s such a great idea to help raise money, because who doesn’t want a Starbucks drink to motivate them when they get to school?
