Cookies are back! PTA served their first batches of cookies on Sept. 14. They will be sold every Wednesday and Friday for the rest of the year. They are a dollar for each bag, cash only.

PTA started selling cookies as a fundraiser to give back to the school. PTA Members Carolin Elkins and Lani Castro have been helping the school with this fundraiser for about 4 years now.

“We raise money as a PTA to give back in different ways when the school needs funds,” Elkins said. “A lot of this goes to prom or scholarships. It’s our big fundraiser back to the school.”

In the morning to prepare the cookies, Ms. Elkins and Ms. Castro get the cookies from a freezer and then brings their equipment to begin baking the cookies. The cookies are made quickly and efficiently.

“Each batch is 15 minutes with 15 trays going at a time,” Elkins said.

Each day they sell cookies, the PTA makes around $650 to $750.

The students are excited for the cookies to be back as well. Sophomore Alex Saenz is extremely eager to buy cookies again this year.

“I’m very excited about it. When I heard they were coming back, I was very happy,” Saenz said. “ I got them almost every time they came out [last year].”
