Steven Miller

Junior Steven Miller enjoys the wind in his hair and the heat of the sun beating on his back as he rides his bike. Getting an adrenaline rush, flying over jumps six feet in the air, is something he loves to do daily.

Bike?
“I got my first bike ever when I was four years old, and it had training wheels and all that good stuff. My first BMX bike, though, was a Christmas present and my friend Jordan Wheeler also got one so we rode a lot together. I have been riding for about three years now. My current bike is an Eastern Element. It is many different colors. Black, blue, white, purple, bright green, yellow and red.”

Why do you ride?
“I ride because it’s free and flowing. There’s no rules. No one is telling you what you have to do. You can just get on and go do whatever you want.”

Who do you ride with?
“Most of the time I ride by myself. Whenever I do ride with friends though, it’s usually Jordan Wheeler, Brandon Strickland or Max Love. Sometimes Max and I will go up to Dunlop on weekends. One time I saw Jordan up there with his girlfriend. We all hung out together and encouraged each other to hit the harder jumps.”

Are you going to make a career out of BMX?
“I’m not into it for a career. I just love to ride my bike. If you only ride to get sponsored, it won’t happen. When Jordan and I first started riding, we just wanted to get sponsored. That’s all we cared about. We weren’t enjoying the sport or learning any tricks. I finally started riding just for fun and I got really good.”
