While some freshman may have a nervous mindset about high school, Sam Maldonado has a positive attitude and plans for his freshman year, as well as the rest of his high school years.
Q: What is it like being in high school now?
A: I’d say it’s pretty exciting. I get to be older and closer to an adult.
Q: How is high school different from middle school?
A: There’s stuff that you don’t get in middle school, like ROTC and Ben Barber.
Q: What are you involved in at school?
A: I’m in ROTC. I’m in it to learn what it’s like and learn chain of command. I like how in the class we learn to be more of a leader.
Q: Do you plan on continuing with ROTC throughout high school?
A: No, because I want to try other things besides ROTC.
Q: What other things are you wanting to try?
A: Art, because it’s something I enjoy, and I’m good at it.
Q: How do you think your freshman year will turn out?
A: I’m hoping it will turn out good because it’s the start of my high school career.
