Sophomore Sara Scott stretches with the JV volleyball team getting ready for another game. As the crowd cheers, Scott only has one thing on her mind. The game. None of the cheering or yelling affects her as she prepares herself.
“I’m more excited than anything,” Scott said. “I’m a little nervous but more excited.”
In addition to playing on the JV volleyball for Legacy, Scott plays on a select softball team. Texas Legend Gold. She hopes to join Legacy’s softball team next semester.
“My friends are in it, I met a lot of my friends through volleyball,” Scott said.
Scott has been playing volleyball for eight years and plays libero or defensive specialist. For each game she plays she sets a goal for herself of eight digs a pass of a hard driven ball from the other team.
“It’s a fast pace sport,” Scott said. “It’s just fun.”
In addition to playing school volleyball and select softball Scott takes two AP classes and has a full work load with practice, homework and games.
“It’s hard to juggle all of them because I’m so busy,” Scott said.
This year Scott set herself a goal to not get upset if she starts not doing as well, and as a team to play composed and stay confident in themselves.
“I think we’re doing good and doing a good job at improving,” Scott said.
Scott enjoys volleyball and all that she has learned and experienced through being on a team, good and bad.
“It’s taught me to always give my hardest, and it’s fun to win,” Scott said.
