A dedicated athlete and friend to many, junior Jorge Garza sits at a lunch table with a friend to eat a lunch of five sandwiches. Aside from his athlete’s appetite, Garza appears as an average teenager that does normal teenage things. He enjoys spending time with friends and family- sitting down every night to eat a family dinner.
What sets Garza apart from his peers, however, is the long list of extracurricular activities that he participates in.
Garza tried out for football when he noticed all of his friends were in it, and that he wanted to be a part of it as well. He has decided to continue in his dedication to the sport because he loves it. Since seventh grade he has played for school teams, and plans on bettering his skills as a player.
Garza considers himself successful not only on the field, but in the classroom as well. He works to keep good grades. He also takes part in other activities that many aren’t aware of, such as chess club and theatre, that help him get in touch with his strategic and creative sides. He loves the thrill of acting, and it makes him content.
Although involved in many other activities, Garza’s loyalty lies in football. When asked what makes him the most happy, he replies with a smile:
“Playing football, being with my team and food.”
