Junior Dillon Jones heads into Pet-O-Rama for another day of work.

The Green Tree Monitor, a species that is more brightly colored than most other reptiles, named Monte basks in a lamp’s light as junior Dillon Jones heads into Pet-O-Rama for another day of work. Today, Jones seems a bit more excited than the usual. It’s feeding day.

After a day of work, Jones heads into the back of the store and gathers mice to feed the reptiles. Knocking one of the mice against the wall, Jones puts it into Monte’s cage. Monte, eager to delve into his meal, takes the mouse and slices it open. Jones watches in interest as Monte, and later the other reptiles, turns the mouse into a gory mess of blood, fur and bloody fur.

Jones works at Pet-O-Rama as the Manager of Reptiles. Usually, Jones handles the reptiles, which are trying to squirm around and will occasionally snap at him, to lessen their hostility and make them more comfortable around people. Jones tries his best to avoid the bird section because of his dislike of the birds and the bites he receives from their sharp beaks.

Before his work shift, Jones goes through seven and a half hours of school that he calls “a waste of time”. His schedule is full of AP classes, including AP Physics as he skipped Pre-AP Physics. By the time the school day ends, Jones is ready to head home.

After work at Pet-O-Rama, he heads home with his family. Once he has returned to his house, he completes his homework, mainly for his AP European History and AP Physics classes. While he sometimes finishes his assignments late in the evening or close to midnight, his procrastination tendencies lead him to not get sleep on Mondays.

At school, Jones doesn’t care how others view him or his actions. In the little free time between school and his job, Jones likes to listen to music. He speaks his mind and likes to raise questions to show new perspectives. He pays attention to the things that interest him, like his favorite reptile Monte.
