The Bronco volleyball team did the best they could do defeating Mansfield High School 3-0 Sept 8.
The energy in the stadium was intense, and the Bronco’s fed off of it. The team was fluent and powerful both offensively and defensively, leading to the quick win. After the first game, which the Broncos won 25-20, the team knew that they’d take the win.
“I think we broke them down in the first game, I think they realized we were not going to lose to them a second time,” player, Rebekah Dorsey said.
The Broncos would then go on to win the next two games by larger margins; the second, 25-14 and the third, 25-9. The team’s serving was well equipped by efficient passing and finishing by the players, earning them quick points.
“Our passing was really good and we got more people involved, helping me spread the ball around and score points,” Dorsey said.
The win puts the volleyball team back at a .500 record and sets them up for a district game against Crowley Friday. Shadowed over last year’s success, this year’s team feels they’re even better this year both in talent and in experience.
“I think it’s going a lot better. At this point last year, our record was pretty bad and this year it’s better. I think the chemistry is a lot better this year with 10 seniors on the team,” Dorsey said.
The team is refreshed by the win and is ready to continue their success for the remainder of the season. They were also encouraged by the “just like football” slogan the Legacy crowd was chanting, referring to the win the Varsity football team got over Mansfield the Friday before.
“I’m pretty sure that was the best feeling I ever got on the court,” Dorsey said.
