As the bell rings, a flow of red shirts emerges into the halls from classrooms. For the freshmen, it’s the first time they will see such a thing. For returning students, however, it’s a tradition they see every year. Red out.
Junior Claire Francis remembers what it was like walking through the hallways two years ago during Red Out day on Friday, when she was a freshman, and was astonished.
“It made me really happy to see everyone wearing red,” Francis said. “[I think] the pep rally really helped prepare Legacy for the Summit game.”
But it’s not just the halls that are filled with red. Attendees the night Legacy plays Summit at RL Anderson.
Anderson stadium at 7:30 p.m. on September 25 are clad in red. Summit High School has been one of Legacy’s big rivals for years.
Austin Franks, quick-side tackle for varsity, prepares for this year’s game against the Jaguars. He’s trying to make his final year of high school football his best yet.
“Seeing the school wearing red shows a lot of support for us,” Franks said. “It shows a lot of school spirit.”
With the big game coming up that night, a pep-rally will ensue during school on Friday. With it being at the end of the day, 2:30 to 2:55 p.m, students will be able to spend the last moments of the day getting ready for the football game with the players.
“Be there and be red,” Franks said.
