Football seniors Brett Bloodworth, Darryl Thomas, Jermaine Brealy and Austin Franks sign to their select colleges on National Signing Day.

With second semester starting, senior athletes start choosing where they want to attend college. College scouts watched the football games and picked their favorites, and athletes choose between the offering schools. National football signing day is Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Senior Austin Franks signed to Texas A&M Commerce on a scholarship. After being offered by three different schools, he said the decision wasn’t difficult to make because he already knew where he wanted to play.

“I worked my butt off for four years,” Franks said. “I gave up a ton of my time and dedicated it to the sport.”

Franks plans on playing football and studying for a business degree in college. His coach, Michael Keel, helped him the most during his time as a Bronco football player. When Franks first received the offer he said he was shocked and ready to be playing at college.

“I fell in love with the campus and everything there,” Franks said.

Senior Jermaine Brealy also signed on the third. After having three different schools offer him, he made the decision to attend West Texas A&M (WT) on a football scholarship. He said the decision was difficult to make because he fell in love with all three locations, but felt WT was his best overall option.

“I really like the coaches there and what they are doing,” Brealy said. “I feel like I can make a really big impact on the program.”

After breaking his ankle junior year, Brealy knew he would have to perform well his senior year in order to get noticed, he also had to excell in the classroom. Brealy made his decision on WT because the school is five hours away and he doesn’t want to be located close to home. He said he feels comfortable at WT and hopes for a bright future there.

Brealy took football out of the equation when visiting the three dream schools. In doing this, he focused on the pros and cons and pictured himself as a regular student on the campus. Doing this helped Brealy make the final decision on what college he wanted to attend.

“I was really excited, it was my third offer but I knew it was something special,” Brealy said. “I have a lot of self motivation.”
