Senior Shelbi Vaughan throws the disc, with it landing over 150 feet away. This throw qualified her for the Junior Olympics.“It feels amazing to be going there,” Vaughan said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to have.”Vaughan has been all over the world competing in discus for the past couple of years. Vaughan has been to places such as Oregon all the way to France for the World Youth Championships. In France, vaughan threw for 176’, ranking her second in the world.
“I think last year helped me out a lot to prepare for this,” Vaughan said.
Vaughan is going to Texas A&M to play volleyball as well as throw discus for their field team. She has a full scholarship to go there.
“I can’t wait to go,” Vaughan said. “College is going to be even better with the athletic experience.
Vaughan expects to do well in the Junior Olympics.
“I know I’ll do well,” Vaughan said. “It’s just a matter of how well, and when I perform my best.”
