Freshman softball player Reagan Wright steps into the batter’s box to face the Corsicana Tigers’ pitcher. The pitcher goes into her windup, and throws a fastball towards the plate. Wright takes a solid swing at the ball, connecting on the sweet spot of the bat. She watches the ball sail over the fence and trots around the bases, with Legacy claiming a 1-0 lead.
“It’s a great feeling being a big factor in the game and knowing you helped the team.” Wright said.
The Broncos won the game behind Wright’s two home runs, triple, and 5 RBI. They took game 2 the following day by a final score of 7-3.
“Winning the first round of the playoffs is good, but we strive to be great and go all the way to the state tournament, and hopefully win it all.” Wright said
The softball team played Hallsville and swept the series, winning 10-4 and 8-3 respectively.
Wright, amidst all the action, hit the ball well again.
“I was seeing the ball well and hitting it hard,” Wright said. “My pitch selection was very good.”
The Broncos take on Sulphur Springs in a three game series that begins on May 10 at 7 p.m. in Royse City.
