The Legacy Bronco softball team starts to buckle down as they mentally and physically prepare for the upcoming season. As the players speculated on their past experiences of last season as Semi-Finals champions, they now start to focus on what they need to improve upon. Senior returner, Sarah Scott, remembers the experiences of last season and hopes that the positive work ethics are shown throughout this upcoming season.
“Last season was a success,” Scott said. “I expect this season to be just as good.”
Scott now leads the team as one of the captains, along with Kendall Potts and Ryan Wright. She wants to make sure she leads with character, such as being a great example for others when called upon by the coaches. Scott wants to leave a legacy when the season finishes that she can always look back on.
“My personal goal is to be a strong leader for my team,” Scott said. “I want to be able to set good examples to be followed.”
Scott has high expectations for this season due to the success of her past seasons involved with the team. She knows that the returning players are capable of achieving great things, due to last year’s season, and plans for the newcomers to be disciplined enough to follow instructions as given.
“I think we have a really good group of girls again,” Scott said. “I think we will be successful.”
The upperclassmen have the same standards for the freshmen as everyone else on the team. They expect them to follow what their leaders and team captains do. Upperclassmen have the responsibility of setting positive examples for the newcomers. The returning players knew what was expected of them: to mentor the newcomers as the season begins to approach.
“My advice for freshmen is to always work hard,” Scott said. “Do everything that you do for the benefit of the team and not just yourself.”
Scott’s will to win starts to build as the season opener begins to approach.
“I am happy for this upcoming season,” Scott said. “I know that we are going to be very successful.”
