High knee kicks and saving slides prepare the Bronco seniors for their last year on the smooth turf of the soccer field. For senior Casey McKean, free kicks and corner kicks physically and mentally prepare her for the upcoming season.
In preparation for the start of a new season, the soccer team put together a lot of work throughout the summer.
“Preparing for soccer is key,” McKean said. “I’m always ready when the season comes around.”
Last year the Broncos set the bar high, so veteran players expect those moving up to pull their weight. The Broncos lost 13 seniors, so all of the pressure of doing well has shifted to players moving up from JV.
“People moving up are expected to do really well,” McKean said. “We have a bunch of talent coming up from JV.”
The team feels as if they’ve worked hard, and look ahead to the upcoming year.
“I’m so proud of my team for improving as we did last year,” McKean said. “I only hope that we can keep improving this season.”
Try-outs begin just after Thanksgiving break, so in preparation for the shaping of the team, all of the Broncos practice their free kicks, corner kicks and everything in between.
“We’re expecting to go to playoffs this year,” McKean said. “I’m confident that this year will be our best year.”
