There is a first for everyone: first steps, first words or first friends. A first for Legacy in four years is a playoff game and a playoff win.
“Every game we play together as a family,” Coach Chris Melson said, “it’s something you will always remember.”
Starting off the first playoff in four years, the Broncos played against Tyler, a team that has made their way to the state semifinals before. The Broncos won 35-14.
“Our goal is to play as hard as we can and get the win,” senior Kijana Amous said. “We also want to play at the Cowboy’s Stadium.”
Senior Terrance Ivery led the Broncos in both passing with 97 yards and rushing with a total of 163 yards on the ground. Amous also rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He was forced to the leave the game with a knee injury. Senior Kenton Mayberry will take his place if Amous can’t play.
“We [as a team] have come a long way from week one,” Mayberry said. “We have been given the opportunity to do big things.”
The Broncos face off against McKinney North at Kincaide Stadium on Nov. 22. The team hopes to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
“Expect a great physical game [from your Broncos],” Coach Melson said. “We are leaving it all on the field.”
