The Broncos have the no. one scoring offense and total offense, but how will it match up with the Seahawks no. one scoring defense and total defense? When Manning played the past number one teams in defense, he achieved a 3-1 record, with six touchdowns and two interceptions and a 91.2 passer rating. On the other hand, Seattle does not have a single player who has ever played in a Super Bowl on their roster. Pete Carroll has completely turned the team around since 2010 when he took over as head coach.

Roger Goodell named the location of the Super Bowl in the beginning of the 2013 season, and when he revealed that he was going to be sitting outside at MetLife stadium in New Jersey, fans were shocked. This will be the first Super Bowl that will be played outside in a cold weather environment: 35 degrees in the day with a chance of 19 degrees at night. The coldness in the air will affect the footballs – it will make it a challenge to pass and catch the ball for both teams.

The five-time most valuable player of the National Football League is going to be facing off against a second year quarterback who has something to prove. Peyton Manning is the 37-year-old field general. He leads the Broncos to their seventh Super Bowl appearance in team history and also a 13-3 regular season record. MVP awards do not mean everything; Russell Wilson played in the playoffs every year he has been in the league. Wilson matched Peyton for records, going 13-3, making Pete Carroll a very happy coach.

This is the Super Bowl where we find out what style of offense will become the most dominant in the league: the drop back and pass, or the running quarterback. Both styles have their strengths and weaknesses, and only one will come out on top. Peyton has 697 rush yards in his 15-year career. Wilson has almost double what Manning has in his first two seasons: 1,028 yards. 64,964 – the number of passing yards Peyton Manning has accumulated over his time in the NFL. The passing versus the running quarterback has just begun.

Peyton Manning is 1-1 in the big game, but if he loses it again, what will his legacy be? Manning also has a chance to get locked in to the Hall Of Fame with a win. After being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998, Peyton has been voted to the pro bowl 13 times, seven times to the all-pro team, seven AFC offensive player of the year, and has many more trophies hanging on his wall. Records may not be broken for a while with Mannings 5,744 yards in one season, four career games with a perfect passer rating, and 55 touchdown passes in one season.

Marshawn Lynch is going to be one of the biggest names during the Super Bowl; he goes back to when he was leaving Buffalo, saying how he wanted to win a Super Bowl. Beast mode, skittles, and well-known Marshawn Lynch are some names people call the phenomenal running back. The skittles celebration started when Lynch was in youth football. His mom would give him skittles as a reward for playing well. It carried on to the NFL, and now everytime Beast Mode runs wild, the fans throw their skittles on the field toward Lynch. He even caused an earthquake on Jan 8, 2011. After he threw every Saint defender off him, and 67 yards later, Lynch scored a touchdown and the fans roared loud enough to cause a magnitude two earthquake.

Peyton Manning has done well this season, but he has not played the “Legion of Boom.” Hard hitting and making big plays is all what Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor are about. They allowed the fewest passing yards and fewest passing touchdowns in the league. The Legion of Boom recorded 17 interceptions, 271 total tackles, 41 pass defends, and one touchdown. Sherman made a bold statement after the NFC Championship win vs the San Francisco 49ers, saying he was the best cornerback in the league. His stats obviously back up his talk. Since coming in the league in 2010, he has led the league in interceptions, pass defends, and also forces quarterbacks to have a 37.9 passer rating when they throw on his side.

Halfway through the game, teams head into the locker room and prepare for the next half, but what’s a Super Bowl without Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Bruno Mars has made comments about performing in the Super Bowl, saying how cold it is going to be and saying how he going to be the best performer of all time. There have been several funny and great moments in the past like Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, Prince, or even Michael Jackson.

Besides the game, commercials are a huge part in the Super Bowl. The average cost of a 30-second advertisement is around four million dollars. That is 133,333 dollars a second, but they are great entertainment. The day after the Super Bowl, everyone is talking more about the hilarious commercials than the game. Doritos, Budweiser and GoDaddy are all great companies making us laugh.

Everyone, get to the store, and get ready for a amazing game between the two number one teams. By 5:30 p.m. on February 2, there will be no one on the streets, but after the game there will be either Bronco fans or Seahawk fans parading the streets in joy. One team will grasp the  Lombardi Trophy and claim the title of ‘Super Bowl 48 Champions.’

My name is Austin Escalante, I am now a senior at Legacy High school. I am 17 years old. I was born and raised in Arizona, and this is the first time I have ever lived outside Arizona. I went to Verrado High School and was planing on never leaving Arizona unless I got my dream job. I've known all my friends for at least 3 years, some even more. My dad took a job here, and I was forced to move, leaving my girlfriend and other friends, and I had to quit my job. It seemed like nothing could get worse. It was over 1,000-mile drive that took us two days, 12 hours the first day and nine hours the second one. [email protected]
