Want to Be Different, Just Like Everyone Else

You know who you are. Starbucks in hand, Uggs to match and the ever-present Vera Bradley wallet with car keys attached. This one’s for you.

1. Infinity Scarves: Both the style of scarf and the infinite amount.

“I like that I don’t have to know any knots, they are so simple.” – A fashionable senior

2. Headbands: These particular headbands are meant for cleansing one’s face of unwanted strands of hair, but a true basic girl wears them in public, preferably on the forehead.

“I’m just not sure 140 characters can describe my love for headbands,” a junior said.

3. PINK (like the brand) Sweats: They say “I care, but not enough to put on an actual pair of pants.”

4. Sequin TOMS: These dress up the typical sweats and headband look. They also make girls feel like they are contributing to a good cause.

5. Uggs: Ugg – no comment on this one.

6. Sperrys: The shoes were actually meant for wear on the boats, but now popular girls have found them and, ironically, worry about wearing them out in the rain.

7. Vera Bradley: For a while I thought Vera Bradley accessories (backpacks, wallets, etc..) were unfortunate homemade gifts from grandma, but it turns out they’re a true basic popular girl staple.

“My Vera Bradley wristlet is what I keep my driver’s license, debit card, gift cards, etc. in and I attach my keys to it too.” A sophomore who’s not named Vera said. “I use it everyday and they are very cute and small.”

8. Selfies/Instagram: A popular girl must remind people what she looks like on a regular basis. This is usually done using a picstitch, where she can post multiple pictures of herself wearing the same thing but making slightly different faces.

“We are obsessed with instagram. [takes photo with us during the interview] We love it so much,” two tech trendy sophomores said. “Without it we would die.” [takes a selfie with random kid walking by]

9. A white iPhone: Because Android is just, like, stupid.

“It’s really user friendly, I like that modern look to it.” -A former Razor user said.

10. Pinterest: A blogging platform used to circulate white girl crafts like bedazzled phone cases or owl coffee mugs.

11. John Green books: But most prominently “The Fault in Our Stars,” because who doesn’t relate to the love story of two cancer patients falling in love and then dying an untimely death.

12. Messy Buns: When a popular girl wants to look like she is putting less effort into her looks than she actually is.

13. North Face Jackets: Why spend $5 on a jacket from Walmart when you can buy and look alike that cost upward $90.

“I wear it more when I go backpacking. I use it for its original purpose.” -A popular mountain climber freshman

14. Charming Charlie’s: The home of bedazzled everything.

15. Twitter: A popular girl is nothing without her clever tweets of Marilyn Monroe quotes.

16. High-low skirts: We thought that this style was over, but we were wrong. They usually are that weird see-through material too.

17. Nike shorts: They show the booty without acting like they show the booty. These are actually really comfortable, not going to lie, but they follow the trend of these girls pretending to not care when they really do.

18. Starbucks: ugh I can’t even I just pumpkin spice like literally ugh.

About the Contributors
Billy Stevens
Billy Stevens, Staff Writer
Hey everyone, I’m Billy Stevens, and I’m a sophomore. This is my first year in newspaper. I don’t do much but sleep and watch Netflix, most recently Skins. I’m a staff writer so I’m just a slave in this whole newspaper operation. I’m just kidding. Only sort of. I like car rides with the windows down. I enjoy music, but, more importantly, I love Lana Del Rey. Follow me on Twitter @billy_stevens3, sometimes I’m funny on there. I really don’t like talking about myself, so lucky for both of us, my poorly constructed bio is over. Cioa. [email protected]
Madison Fountain
Madison Fountain, Personalities Editor
Hey, this is Madison! I'm your personalities editor here on The Rider. It's my senior year, but I have been on staff since I was a young sophomore. I enjoy long, romantic walks to the fridge and doing backflips through the school hallway while singing showtunes loudly. Juuuust kidding... sort of. Anyway, I'm also very involved in theatre (I wonder if they'll let me keep this spelling on the website). I'm kind of loud and I get distracted easily sometimes, but I'm ready to work hard this year as an editor and make The Rider the best it has ever been. [email protected]
Dillon Camp
Dillon Camp, Entertainment Editor
I am Legacy. Just kidding. I’m not. I’m Dillon Camp, the entertainment editor for therideronline.com and I am so excited to say this. I feel like I am a part of something this year, like band kids without so much physical activity and Macs instead of tubas. Outside of newspaper, I love watching movies, listening to music, writing and drinking unhealthy amounts of coffee. [email protected]
Madison Imschweiler
Madison Imschweiler, News Editor
Hi, I'm Madison. I'm a senior and the News Editor for The Rider Online, and it feels pretty great to be able to say that. Aside from The Rider, I keep myself busy by being a part of the Legacy swim team, lifeguarding and teaching little kiddos how to swim, scuba diving and being involved in church. I'm also very bad at bringing things to a conclusion, so..xoxo, gossip girl. [email protected]
