On February 18, coach Michelle Mayfield earned her 300th win in her coaching career. After coming from a coaching position at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor six years ago, coach Mayfield has had several achievements here at Legacy, including her 200th win.
“I’m very proud to have been able to achieve it,” coach Mayfield said. “It’s representative of a lot of hard work and sacrifice.”
When coaching, Mayfield expects the same amount of effort from her players that she puts in. Coach Mayfield not only works her players, but works on her coaching.
“I expect as much out of myself as I do my players,” coach Mayfield said. “I give them 100 percent and expect the same in return.”
For coach Mayfield, 300 wins only serves as a beginning. According to her, what’s in store is the next step up.
“A state championship is the only goal at this point that has eluded me,” coach Mayfield said. “I hope to get it this year with our 2014 Broncos.”
As for now, 300 wins serves as a landmark in her coaching career. Not only will it carry on, it’ll serve as a motivator for more.
“It’s a testament to the players that I’ve had the pleasure to coach over the last 15 years, including these last six years here at Legacy,” coach Mayfield said.
