When someone goes to McDonald’s, they’ll probably order a Big Mac and not a Monster Mac, or go to Starbucks and order a Caramel Cappuccino and not a Cotton Candy Frappuccino. These would sound foreign to almost anyone who doesn’t know about the plethora of secret menus out there. Here are some of the top local menus:
In-N-Out – In-N-Out’s secret menu is probably the least secret of the secret menus. They almost flaunt their secret menu to the world. In-N-Out’s most popular secret menu item is the Animal Style Burger. This burger is essentially a normal burger until you consider the extra pickles, extra spread, grilled onions and mustard fried onto each meat patty. There’s also the Protein Style Burger, which is a burger wrapped in lettuce as opposed to having buns. For those who like being plain, they also have the Flying Dutchman Burger, which is simply two beef patties that sandwich two slices of cheese.
Chipotle – Chipotle’s secret menu includes the Burritodilla, a burrito with half the fillings, grilled like a quesadilla. There’s also the Chipotle Nachos. It’s essentially a burrito bowl with chips at the bottom, instead of rice. Then there’s the glorious Quesarito. Imagine a burrito, encased in a cheese quesadilla.
Starbucks – For the Harry Potter fans out there, Starbucks has a Butterbeer Frappuccino, which is vanilla bean, caramel and toffee nut syrup. This magical drink will take you back to Hogwarts. For the cereal lovers, there’s also a Captain Crunch Berry Frappuccino. This drink consists of strawberries & creme, caramel, hazelnut, toffee and java chips. And finally, for the caffeine junkies, there’s Liquid Cocaine. This drink starts out with four shots of espresso, white chocolate syrup and milk.
Sonic – A while back, everyone fell in love with the Purple O, but there are even more drinks on Sonic’s secret menu. There’s the Dr Pepper Orgasm, which is Dr Pepper, lemonade and powerade. The Sonic Sunrise, orange juice and cherry limeade. Then there’s the Sonic Suicide Slush, which is a slush with a little bit of everything thrown in for those who are unsure what they want.
Taco Bell – Taco Bell may be cheap, but their secret menu is full of great items. First off, there’s the Superman, which is a cheesy, double-beef burrito loaded with extra potatoes, sour cream, guacamole and crispy tortilla strips. There’s also the Enchirito, which is an Enchilada stuffed with beef, beans, cheese, and topped with diced onions and covered in Taco Bell’s red sauce. Then there’s the Incredible Hulk Burrito which is a five-layered burrito that’s layered with guacamole instead of nacho cheese sauce.
Torchy’s Tacos – Torchy’s Tacos is a lesser-known food chain that originated in Austin and can now be found in Fort Worth. However, the drive is worth it. Besides Torchy’s 14 delicious tacos on the menu, there are some extra, even more delicious tacos off the menu. First, there’s the Matador which is chopped brisket and grilled jalapeno topped with pickled onions, jack cheese, avocado, sour cream and cilantro with tomatillo sauce on a corn tortilla. Then there’s the Hipster which is panko-breaded fried tuna, with bacon, green chilies, and black beans; topped with cilantro and cotija cheese, and served on a flour tortilla with avocado sauce. For those who aren’t a fan of tuna there’s the glorious Ace of Spades, which is an enormous helping of Jalapeno sausage link and grilled brisket topped with a fried egg, green chile queso, cotija cheese, sour cream, more cheese and Diablo sauce, served on two flour tortillas.
Note: Not all locations of these restaurants may be familiar with some of the aforementioned items. If this is the case, simply visit hackthemenu.com and it’ll walk anyone through how to order the item, or tell the worker how to make it.
